At FSG Certification, we empower organisations to achieve verifiable sustainability milestones. Our certification framework recognises organisations that have demonstrated conformity with defined environmental, social and governance requirements at Bronze, Silver, Gold or Emerald level. Discover how your sustainability performance can be independently assessed against our published certification requirements and recognised through FSG Certification.
Certification authorises the organisation to use the applicable FSG Certification mark only within the scope and validity of the certification awarded. Certification does not authorise broader environmental or sustainability claims that are not supported by the certification scope or other appropriate evidence.
Certified organisations remain responsible for ensuring that environmental claims made in their commercial communications comply with applicable consumer protection legislation.
Bronze award: foundational commitment
A Bronze Award recognises a business that has established the essential foundations for responsible and sustainable business practices. The business has demonstrated compliance with the mandatory requirements relevant to its certification scheme and has provided verifiable evidence that appropriate policies, responsibilities, measurements and improvement plans are in place.
Bronze businesses understand their key environmental, social and governance responsibilities, have assigned people to oversee progress and have begun taking structured action. The award represents a credible commitment to ongoing improvement, rather than proof that the business has already achieved measurable sustainability outcomes.
Silver award: demonstrable progress
A Silver Award recognises a business that has progressed beyond the foundations and developed a structured understanding of its key environmental, social and governance impacts. The business has demonstrated compliance with the applicable requirements and provided verifiable evidence that it measures its performance, identifies risks and opportunities, and has practical improvement plans with defined responsibilities and targets.
Silver businesses can show that sustainability is becoming embedded in their operations and decision-making. The award represents meaningful progress and a systematic approach to improvement, although the business may not yet be able to demonstrate the level of implementation and measurable outcomes required for the higher awards.
Gold award: outstanding achievement
A Gold Award recognises a business that has embedded responsible and sustainable practices across its operations. The business has moved beyond measurement and planning to implementing meaningful actions, supported by clear responsibilities, regular performance reviews and verifiable evidence of progress.
Gold businesses demonstrate a mature and systematic approach to managing their environmental, social and governance impacts. The award reflects substantial implementation and continuous improvement, although the business may not yet demonstrate the comprehensive, measurable outcomes required for the highest award level.
Emerald award: pioneering excellence
An Emerald Award recognises a business that can demonstrate measurable and sustained environmental, social and governance outcomes. The business has fully embedded responsible and sustainable practices across its operations and can provide verifiable evidence that its actions are delivering meaningful improvements.
Emerald businesses demonstrate strong leadership, accountability and continuous improvement. The award represents the highest level of achievement, showing that the business has progressed beyond commitments, measurement and implementation to delivering proven positive impact.

FSG Certification Ltd is the owner of its certification schemes and sets and maintains the certification requirements in consultation with relevant experts and stakeholders. Scheme requirements are publicly available and our schemes are open on transparent, fair and non-discriminatory terms to all organisations willing and able to meet the applicable requirements.
Monitoring and verification of compliance is undertaken by Agent4Change, a legally separate independent third party. Auditors are approved against documented competence and impartiality requirements. Certification decisions are separately reviewed by a competent Reviewer/Decision Maker who has not participated in the audit.
